(Photo Source: Bowling Green Athletics)BOWLING GREEN, OH (Toledo News Now) - For the third time this season, Bowling Green State University football player Chris Jones has been named Mid-American Conference East Division Defensive Player of the Week for his efforts versus Miami.
Jones recorded 5 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks, while holding the Red Hawks to just 12 points and one touchdown in BGSU's victory. Jones and the defense also held Miami to 256 yards of offense, including 3 yards on the ground on 20 carries.
This is the third time this season the defensive tackle has won the award. He was first recognized in week two after recording 2.5 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks in a win versus Idaho. The following week he had 2.5 tackles for loss, 2.0 sacks and a forced fumble versus Toledo.
The senior currently leads the country with nine sacks and is second in the nation with 13.5 tackles for loss.
