TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) - Fox Sports' Ken Rosenthal will wear a University of Toledo bow tie Saturday night in Detroit for game three of the World Series.
This was all part of a competition held on Facebook. Rocket fans stepped up and out of 46 bow ties, the University of Toledo's came in 3rd place.
The Bow Tie Cause is an organization that uses bow ties as a way to raise awareness about a certain cause.
The bow tie represents the UT's Dana Cancer Research Center and specifically prostate cancer.
Each of the 46 causes involved in the challenge were turned into bow tie form. Toledo's represents their "Tie One On" campaign.
Officials with the university are excited and hope the nationwide attention does more than put Toledo in the spotlight.
"Our event is January 26th for this Basketball season and it is already gotten us a lot of attention from people wanting to join Tie One on 2013. It enabled us to create a website for that where normally we might do that in December, so we sped up and did that early and hopefully get a lot of recognition and raise money for the Dana Cancer center and then in particular the Prostate Cancer part of that," said Larry Burns with the University of Toledo.
Other causes that will have ties worn during the World Series include the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, National Multiple Sclerosis Society and Ovarian Cancer.
