(Toledo News Now) - The old Lime City Elementary School has been sold. The school is located at the corner of Lime City Rd. and State Route 20 in Perrysburg Township.
The Rossford Board of Education owns the land and maintains the five acre property.
For 12 years, Perrysburg Township has coveted the land and now trustees have agreed on a contract with Rossford to purchase for just over $110,000.
They plan on demolishing the building.
Throughout the process of purchasing the property, the township has sought out opinions from the community as to what should go there.
"Actually two years ago we did a comprehensive plan for the Township, the first that we've ever done and their was widespread community involvement and the message that we heard the loudest and the clearest from our residents was how badly the Township needed park land or community space and they made us become more focused on this particular property because it is right next to our Township hall," said Bob Mack, Perrysburg Township Trustee.
Mack said they are taking their time with the purchase and trustees will continue to feel out ideas from residents.
