A Lodi Police Deputy is getting medical treatment, after a suspect spits in his eye.
It happened Wednesday at a building on Greenwich Road.
Lodi Police were called to a home on Greenwich Road for a resident who was depressed and armed with a gun. The subject left the residence on foot before the officers arrived. A search of the area was made and the subject was found inside a business located at the intersection of Greenwich and Jameson Road.
A tactical entry was made to the building and the subject was found laying under a metal grate.
As Deputy Dan Kohler was handcuffing the subject he noted immediately the subject was holding a knife and refused to drop it after numerous commands to do so. During the arrest, the suspect spit in Deputy Kohler's eye.
Deputy Kohler will now have to go through a number of blood draws to determine if he was exposed to any disease.
Officer David Brantner deployed his Taser and shot the subject. After one jolt the subject was handcuffed, and the knife recovered.
The name of the suspect has not yet been released.
