Greenfield's Department of Public Works and representatives told CBS 3 Thursday's snowfall is a lot more than anticipated. Initially, they were expecting around two to four inches, but more than 10 inches fell in town.
"The forecast was changing over to rain, so we were expecting rain," said Paul Raskevitz, an assistant field superintendent for the Greenfield Department of Public Works.
Thursday afternoon snow fell hard in Greenfield, which caused traffic to move slow on major roadways.
DPW workers said 25 trucks were sent out to plow roads, but there were still several problems.
"We had a lot of glazing, and we had to retreat with some sand and salt in some areas again … a few trucks stuck … a few tractor trailers … some cars stuck on some of the hills," Raskevitz said.
However, the DPW weren't the only ones out in full force. Other people were also out in the snow, like Shane Barbato, who is a sales representative at the Toyota Ford car dealership on Main St.
"Well we're cleaning off the lot ... all of the Toyotas and Fords. That's one of the perks of the job come the winter season," Barbato said.
If you thought clearing off your snow-covered car is tough, just ask him how many cars he and his coworkers have to clear by the end of the day.
"We've done about twenty, and we're probably looking at 200," Barbato said.
Last winter, Barbato said he was spoiled by the lack of snow, and he is hopeful that there won't be many snow storms like Thursdays.
"I'm sort of hoping that we won't get a lot more of these, but in the same respect, we can probably pretty much count on it," Barbato said.
DPW representatives told CBS 3 that their goal on Thursday is to make the roads passable and safe. On Friday, they plan on getting back out on the streets and clearing the rest of the snow off the roads.
