NORTH BALTIMORE, OH (Toledo News Now) – Officials in North Baltimore are evaluating their part-time emergency medical services and looking at options to make volunteers full-time.

Currently EMTs are always dispatched in an emergency, but they are not always from the village. Council members said people could get the help they need much sooner if the village station operated with volunteers 24/7.

"Residents are more comfortable having a full-time squad than part-time," said resident Jesse Girdler. "Time is lost from the guys having to get calls."

Village Councilmember Jeffery Bertz echoed residents' feelings, and explained that current staffing levels are not ideal for emergency situations.

The village council met Monday night to discuss the options and got a step closer to finding a solution.
