This week on Leading Edge, Jerry sits down with a member of city government, state government and leaders of a local high school's centennial celebration.
First, hear Toledo City Council President Joe McNamara's response to the suggestion he should be "tarred and feather or de-nutted" by a local union leader. The comment came after McNamara refused to support the Lucas County Democratic Party's choice to fill a vacant seat on council.
Later, Jerry speaks with Ohio State Senator Randy Gardner. Gardner is entering his second term as a state senator, after serving from 2001 to 2007. Gardner will serve as the first chairperson of the Ohio Senate Finance Committee's Education Sub-Committee. Hear his thoughts on education funding, as well as the governor's plan to borrow money against future turnpike revenue.
This year, 2013, marks 100 years since Scott High School opened in Toledo's Old West End. Jerry speaks with Scott alum Stanford Odesky and current principal and Scott graduate Treva Jefferies about what they have planned for the big anniversary.
