
Alumni and current students gathered Thursday to celebrate the school's centennial.TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) – This year marks the centennial anniversary of Scott High School in Toledo's Old West End.
Thursday night, the school held its kickoff event for a year of celebrating.
The ground was broken for the school in 1911, and the official opening day was September 8, 1913.
Thursday's kickoff event brought together alumni and current students. The city and county officials made a proclamation that named 2013 the "Year of the Bulldog."
The theme for the celebration was, "Once a Bulldog, always a Bulldog."
"It just means pride, tradition, family, history," explained Treva Jeffries, Scott principal and alumna. "To me, this is a family. This is my life."
The yearlong celebration will culminate in a grand finale at the Seagate Center on October 19.
