
MAUMEE, OH (WTOL) - A Saturday morning crash that shutdown part of the Ohio Turnpike is under investigation.
According to the Swanton Highway Patrol, Saturday at 1:39 a.m., a freightliner heading westbound veered off the left side of the road and into the eastbound lanes.
The driver, 23-year-old Kenny L. Ulloa, of Bronx, New York, struck a guardrail and overturned his vehicle, blocking eastbound traffic on the turnpike heading into Lucas County.
Another driver, 52-year-old William P. Eyre, of Chicago, Illinois, struck the trailer, wrecking his 2006 Ford Crown Victoria.
Eyre was transported to the University of Toledo Medical Center with injuries.
The eastbound lanes of the Ohio Turnpike were closed for about three hours, but have since reopened.
The cause of the crash has not yet been determined.
