CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -
Cleveland Police, Fire and EMS all responded to a call today, January 19th around 1:45 p.m. to find a 6-year-old girl suffering from a severely traumatic injury to the face.
Cleveland EMS has confirmed that a 6-year-old girl died at Rainbow Babies and Children this afternoon after she was taken there to be treated for her injuries.
The Emergency response team reports excessive blood and that the child's death is considered "traumatic and suspicious. The incident occurred in the 4100 block of East 116th street.
The preliminary investigation reveals that the child may have suffered a self inflicted gunshot wound to the face. Officers are still on scene and investigating and no arrests have been made at this time.
The Cleveland Division of Police Homicide Unit along with the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's Office responded to the hospital and to the scene for investigation. The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's Office will determine the final cause of death.
