MAUMEE, OH (Toledo News Now) – The Maumee Police Department will soon have four new officers.

Maumee city council approved a plan to hire four new officers, including a resource officer for Gateway Middle School, Tuesday night.

The officers will likely hit the streets this summer to help keep the community safe. The resource officer will start working at the school this coming school year.

The new hires will help support the force, which is expecting several retirements in coming months.
