HANCOCK COUNTY, OH (Toledo News Now) – A routine patrol Tuesday led to the discovery of a stolen vehicle and a chase.

While on a routine patrol, Deputy Lowery of the Hancock County Sheriff's Office located a stolen 2006 Lincoln Zepher. He said he initiated a traffic stop on State Road 15 at County Road 193.

The vehicle took off and turned around at County Road 196, then began traveling westbound on SR 15. The driver eventually got onto I-75 southbound and reached speeds over 110 miles per hour.

The vehicle was stopped on I-75 at the 140 mile marker, after the Bluffton Police deployed a spike strip.

The driver of the stolen Lincoln was identified as James Newton of Sharon, Penn. He was taken into custody.

No injuries were reported.
