Elderly driver hit by train in Amherst Twp.

AMHERST TOWNSHIP, Ohio (TOLEDO NEWS NOW, AP) - The Elyria State Highway Patrol post is investigating a collision involving a car and a train.

It happened Sunday afternoon around 4 p.m. in Amherst Township. Lorain resident Mirian Matesic, 78, was driving on Oberlin Road and crossed the Norfolk and Southern railroad tracks when her car was hit.

She was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The accident is being investigated.
