Woman drives car into Lake Erie

CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -

A woman was rushed to a local hospital, after she drove her car into Lake Erie.

The accident happened around 2:30 a.m. Sunday at Whiskey Island.

Officials tell 19 Action News, the woman drove past a barrier and into the lake.

She was quickly rescued, but does need to be treated for hypothermia.

A dive team was called to Whiskey Island to pull out the car.

The accident remains under investigation.
