Kristen Wiig joins cast of "Anchorman" sequel

The director of the well-loved comedy "Anchorman" announced via Facebook that Kristen Wiig has joined the cast of the sequel.

"Anchorman: The Legend Continues" will be released in late 2013 and will involve stars of the original including Will Ferrell, Christina Applegate, Paul Rudd, and Steve Carell.

Wiig is known for her success for several years on Saturday Night Live and recently in her smash hit, Bridesmaids.

Rolling Stone reports her role in the Anchorman sequel may be as a love interest for Steve Carell.
