TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -
Last year, Chrysler came
out with their "It's Halftime, America" ad, narrated by Clint Eastwood. This
year, it was "Whole Again," narrated by Oprah Winfrey, which aired shortly
after halftime of the Super Bowl.
Each ad didn't focus as
much on the product as they did their message – a message that hit home for
many Americans, and made one local dealer beam with pride.
The "Whole Again"
commercial opened with families at home, going about their day-to-day
activities. The viewer slowly learns that the families are waiting for a loved
one in the military to come home from overseas. Not until the second half of
the 2-minute ad does it become clear that it is a Jeep commercial.
To Jeep dealer and owner
of Grogan's Towne, Denny Amrhein, it was a powerful message.
"It was one of those ads
where you just sat there and watched because you didn't know what it was about,"
Amrhein said. "I mean, to me it was as powerful an ad as they have had anywhere
in a long, long time, and I think Chrysler's ads for the last 3-4 years in the
Super Bowl have been that strong."
Another Chrysler Super
Bowl ad this year was also rated among the best of the 2013 Super Bowl
commercials – the Dodge Trucks ad with Paul Harvey, "God made a Farmer."
