The Honor Flight of Northwest Ohio says a scam is circulating in which veterans are being tricked into paying for flights.
It has come to the attention of Honor Flight Northwest Ohio that someone is calling World War II veterans in the area, telling them they have been selected for a Northwest Ohio Honor Flight. The scammer then asks for their credit card information.
Honor Flight Northwest Ohio flights are entirely free of charge to any veterans.
Additionally, Honor Flight Northwest Ohio board members, as well as others associated with the organization, say they would never ask for credit card information whether over the phone, in an e-mail message, or in person.
