The Monroe County Sheriff's office is investigating a crash that killed 46-year-old Timothy Walz of Newport, MI on Telegraph Road.
A news release by the sheriff's office reports Walz was crossing Telegraph just south of Buhl Road from the parking lot of the Gravel Pit Bar. He was reported to be headed to the Kimberly Estates Mobile Home Park also located on Telegraph.
Deputies report Walz was wearing dark clothing when a Ford Expedition SUV driven by 63-year-old Larry Reaume struck him in the road. Walz was pronounced dead at the scene.
Reaume was not injured and was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
Investigation reveals alcohol use by Walz appears to be a factor in the crash.
