TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Lucas County Republicans are gearing up to welcome Ohio Gov. John Kasich to Toledo for their annual Lincoln Day Dinner Thursday.

Members of the Lucas County Republican Party call the Lincoln Day Dinner their Super Bowl, their All Star Game. It's a day to see and be seen by everyone in the Republican Party. They say that excitement has already sold tickets.

Tickets, however, are still available for Thursday's event, which kicks off at 7 p.m. at the Premier on Heatherdowns.

In the past, Lt. Gov. Mary Taylor and ex-presidential hopeful Herman Cain have been in attendance. This year, members of the Lucas County GOP say the governor pulling up to the table says a lot.

"It sends a strong message here to Toledo, in terms of our importance in the election, and the state of Ohio. It sends a strong message that we are important here in northwest Ohio," said Alfonso Narvaez of the Lucas County Republican Party.

Tickets for the social hour and dinner cost $50 a person. Tickets for the chairman's reception and dinner cost $300 a person.
