CYPRESS, Calif., Feb. 19, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Nitto Tire, a leading innovator in high performance tires, has achieved a new social media milestone for the brand by hitting 3 million fans on Facebook. Reaching this benchmark sets a brisk pace of growth, with the 2.5-million fan mark having been gained just two months ago.
"We have an incredible base of knowledgeable and enthusiastic people who appreciate the innovation and excitement Nitto Tire pursues every day in everything we do," said Tomo Mizutani, president of Nitto Tire U.S.A. Inc. "That spirit is reflected in the incredible support we are seeing through Facebook and the community that has been built by the users of our products."
Nitto continues to outrank all other Japanese companies except Sony on Facebook and is now one of the top 2,000 pages overall, among notable brands like Honda, Jeep, and Gatorade. Its fan base also dwarfs that of other tire companies.
Nitto's success has been attributed to unique engagement strategies, which have included letting fans virtually build and vote for their favorite Nitto-clad car, compelling automotive photography, and a year-long sponsorship of DJ and producer Steve Aoki in 2012. Nitto has several exciting fan outreach programs scheduled for 2013.
To celebrate this landmark, Nitto Tire will offer a special gift to the first 3,000 people who sign up starting on Tues., Feb. 19, 2013. They will receive an exclusive commemorative comic book tracing the history of the brand. The comic showcases Nitto's grassroots growth in the United States, which was propelled by strategic product decisions and partnerships developed by Mizutani. This growth closely mirrors Nitto's success on Facebook, which has been largely driven by its enthusiast followers and unique promotions.
This extraordinary growth on Facebook contributes to a strong start in 2013 for Nitto Tire that has also included sponsorship of Formula Drift Champion Vaughn Gittin Jr. and the Monster Energy / Nitto Tire / Ford Mustang RTR as well as the brand's first year as presenting sponsor for the Ultra4 Racing King of the Hammers event.
