Crews responded to a suspicious house fire on Nevada Street in east Toledo Wednesday morning around 8 a.m.
Neighbor Nancy Myers called 911 for help, and stood by to keep an eye on things, hoping the fire wouldn't spread any further.
"It seemed like a long time, but really it wasn't. It was just the excitement I had in me that made me nervous. I was wanting them to be there right away," said Myers.
The house is vacant and was on fire in the summer of 2012, as well. This time, the house was fully engulfed in flames when crews arrived and has been destroyed. The fire re-ignited several times while crews were there.
The owner says he was getting ready to remodel the house after last summer's fire.
Neighbors say the scene was all too familiar.
"It just seemed to keep going and going and going. And I called my son - because we know the owner - and said, 'Wayne's house is on fire AGAIN!'" said neighbor Rosemary Boisselle.
Officials from the Toledo Fire Department say arsons in the city go in spurts. Still, neighbors say the possibility of another house going up in flames doesn't sit well with them.
"You never know if another one is going to go up. It's bad for the neighborhood," said Myers.
Fire investigators are working to determine a cause but believe it is another case of arson. They say the building is a total loss and the city will tear it down.
