Finding a job can become a job of its own. Now Toledoans hunting for jobs have another resource to use, and it's just a "like" away on Facebook.
Hiring in Toledo is a Facebook page that popped onto the social networking site about seven months ago, thanks to a spontaneous idea from a local husband and wife who wanted to help fellow Toledoans get a job.
The site has nearly 2,500 followers now. Members who see job opportunities can post them on the page's wall. Employers and jobseekers are welcome.
The creators say they have seen all sorts of positions, ranging from food service to nursing, even substitute teachers.
"Strangers who have never even met together are giving each other as much information as they can, and really just showing love to people they've never even met. Because everybody knows how hard it is in this day and age to find a job. So it's best - people just really want to help," said David Jeffries with Hiring in Toledo.
Site organizers say it is a place for job listings within a 30-mile radius of downtown Toledo. They are looking forward to expanding the Facebook page to a website with a searchable database of jobs in the future.
