Port Clinton Police say they are very close to an arrest after child pornography was found in a box of books.
In January a woman found pornographic images of children in a box of books she bought at a Port Clinton auction house. Police initiated an investigation at that time and determined neither the woman nor the operator of the action house knew about the photos prior to the sale.
Police say they have received several tips since going public with the story, all of which lead them to a victim and a suspect.
"Not only law enforcement, but the people in general want to get this resolved. Everybody agrees that this is a heinous crime and they never want to see it ever happen again. Hopefully I never have to investigate this again in my career," said Port Clinton Police Sergeant Corbin Carpenter.
Sergeant Carpenter says the photos were likely taken in the 1990's and that the suspect did not intend for them to be found. Carpenter says the victim, a female, is undergoing therapy. Police said they have not determined where the crime was committed, but believe it was somewhere in Ottawa County.
