FOSTORIA, OH (Toledo News Now) -
A
city hit hard by tough times is now fighting back – the City of Fostoria is
working hard to boost its own economy.
The
Fostoria Economic Development Corporation (FEDC), part of the Fostoria Chamber
of Commerce, was founded in 1982 to help Fostoria businesses grow and to draw
new businesses to the area.
Wednesday
night, the FEDC received their yearly continuance of $30,000 from city council.
Through
the recession, the FEDC focused on retaining current business in the area. Now
they are working to bring more business and jobs to the city. But the process
is a slow one, according to Director Joan Droll.
"Across
the board, a lot of companies and communities have been hurt," Droll said. "We
are making some headway with businesses bringing back the number of employees
that were furloughed, but it's a slow process."
Droll
also said the FEDC will be making a big announcement next week.
