PERRYSBURG, OH (Toledo News Now) -
This
weekend is the annual Winterfest in Perrysburg – three days filled with family
fun and activities.
Saturday
will be the main event: Two ice carving contests, one for professionals, the
other for amateurs. The amateur competition begins at 10 a.m. Saturday, the
professionals will start at 2 p.m. The sculptures will be judged at the end of
the night.
Sculptures
currently on display were all done by Ice Creations, a local company that has
been part of Winterfest since the beginning.
"They
start out with a block of ice, and they have to create something out of it, so
you know, it's not easy to do that," said Chard Harston, owner of Ice
Creations. "Some of the stuff that they are going to create tomorrow is just
going to blow people away. The professionals will really go all out for prize
money, so they're going to do their best."
Families
are encouraged to bring their children to the festival. There will be crafts,
games, food and entertainment from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m.
