TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -
Photos have been released
of the new 2014 Jeep Cherokee that will be built here in Toledo.
Plans have been kept
secret since Chrysler announced they'd be replacing the Jeep Liberty. The
official unveiling is set for the New York International Auto Show in March.

Now spoke to thought the design was an upgrade,
"That's one beautiful
vehicle," said resident Billy Newell. "Wow, I love the front end on it. [It
doesn't] even look like a Jeep."
But not everyone was a fan
of the sleeker Cherokee.
"I don't know if I really
like the curved front end with the bars going up and down," said resident
Garland Scarberry.
The public got a peek at
the new Jeep earlier than expected when pictures were leaked online last week.
Automotive website Jalopnik posted unauthorized pictures of what they say is the
new Cherokee in a production facility. The leak forced Chrysler to release
their own promotional photos of the Jeep model more than a month before the car
was supposed to be unveiled.
So far, Toledoans like
what they see, and they're even more excited about the number of new jobs that
will be created to support production of the Cherokee.
"Any time you add new
jobs, you're going to get tickled to death about it," Scarberry said. "Keeps
the economy going. Toledo could use that."
Production of the Cherokee
is expected to add more than 1,000 new jobs at the Jeep assembly plant in
Toledo. The new vehicle will be available in showrooms this fall.
