Local elections taking place in Michigan today

TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) - Local elections are taking place in 42 of Michigan's 83 counties today, including Monroe County.

Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

As a reminder, emergency absentee ballots are still available under certain conditions until 4 p.m. today.

Michigan Secretary of State Ruth Johnson is encouraging residents to cast ballots.

She says it only takes a few minutes to participate in one of our country's basic freedoms.
