FREMONT, OH (Toledo News Now) -
A groundbreaking ceremony was held Wednesday for Elmwood of Fremont's new, skilled-nursing and memory care addition.

"This will be a state-of-the-art facility," said Kathy Hunt, owner and CEO of Elmwood Communities. "We have spent countless hours designing every corner of this anticipated masterpiece…Our focus is to keep it resident- and community-centered."
Hunt said the new addition will be a 43,510 square foot, single-story structure and will feature 30 private, skilled-nursing suites and a Reminiscence Neighborhood, with 18 private Alzheimer's and Dementia suites. It will be located on the west side of the existing facility.
In addition to the private rooms, there will be an activity room, guest lounge, living room, ice cream parlor and juice bar, hair salon, and a spa. Both communities – skilled-nursing and memory care – will have their own dining room.
Outdoor features will include gardens and enclosed courtyards.
Physical, occupational and speech therapies will be available for residents, as well as a warm-water therapy pool.
An estimated 70 full and part-time jobs are expected to be created from the new addition.
The grand opening is projected for spring or early summer of 2014.
