Rossford leaders say they are losing police officers to other departments, so they approved a big raise.
The new contract calls for officers to receive a 3 percent raise for three consecutive years. Uniform allowance has gone from $100 to $500 a year.
Chief Glenn Goss says the city and the department were able to come to this agreement because officers agreed to keep their overtime, through compensation days, at a minimum.
He says, throughout the years, Rossford has lost many employees and officers to other law enforcement agencies that offer higher pay and better benefits. He hopes this change will break the pattern.
