On Friday, ProMedica announced the end of flu visitation restrictions at all of its hospitals and long-term care facilities.
ProMedica put the restrictions in place in January, along with other hospitals, in response to an increasing number of flu cases in northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan. To protect the safety of patients and healthcare employees, visitors with flu-like symptoms, or under 18 years of age, were not permitted inside ProMedica facilities, unless they required medical treatment.
"Fortunately, the number of flu cases in the area have declined," said Brian Dick, corporate director for ProMedica Infection Prevention and Control. "However, I encourage people to still continue to practice good hand hygiene methods to help reduce the spread of the virus."
