At least one suspect is at
large after a meth lab was found in an abandoned home north of Deshler.
The Henry and Wood County
Sheriff's offices are investigating the situation, in which one person is
currently in custody for tampering with evidence.
Henry County Sheriff Michael
Bodenbender said the lab was found under the crawl space of the abandoned
house. It wasn't anything elaborate – just two 5-gallon buckets – but what was
inside is still very dangerous.
"With the chemicals that
they use, they're considered hazardous and we actually had to call in BCI to
clean it up because we're not even supposed to be touching the buckets they're
in," Bodenbender said. "They can explode. They're very toxic."
The clean up was completed
smoothly, and the sheriff said they'll continue to crack down on not just meth
but all illegal substances.
"Drugs, in particular, are
an issue and this is just another one we have to deal with," he said. "As they
come, we're going to deal with them."
