LAKE TOWNSHIP, OH (Toledo News Now) -
Last week, three individuals with the Lake Township Fire Department resigned after an off-the-clock incident. Now the police sergeant involved has been temporarily suspended.
Sergeant Scott Sims is facing a 5-day suspension for intoxication.
Sgt. Sims was taken home intoxicated from his brother's wedding February 16 by two township firefighters. Before taking him home, though, the firefighters decided to stop by the fire station and give Sims saline solution to help him sober up.
Lake Township Police Chief Mark Hummer sent a memo to Sims Thursday, informing Sims of his suspension without pay. If there are no more disciplinary actions taken against Sims within the next year, two of the five days will be dropped.
Chief Hummer also thanked Sims for his honesty during the investigation, and said he has faith in Sims' ability to serve the public.
