Western New England University student stabbed on campus

Posted: Updated:
SPRINGFIELD, MA (WSHM) -

A Western New England University student has a minor stab wound on his forehead after a suspect tried to rob him on campus Friday night.

A school spokesperson says the suspect approached the student in the West Lot off Wilbraham Road around 9 p.m. and asked for money.

The student told the suspect he didn't have money and that's when the man in a hooded sweatshirt took out either a knife or box cutter and swung at the student.

The student took a cut on the forehead and didn't need to go to the hospital.

Springfield police and Western New England University campus security are looking for the suspect who ran off.

The WNU spokesperson doesn't believe the suspect is still on campus.
