An elderly Putnam County couple died in Florida, after their car collided with a police cruiser Sunday morning.
Investigators say the deputy involved in the crash was responding to a 911. The couple's 2003 Cadillac turned left at an intersection, hitting the driver's side of the cruiser, driven by Deputy Roberto Torres, 28.
The deputy suffered minor injuries.
Witnesses say the Deputy Torres' emergency lights were on, but the sirens were not sounding.
According to the Findlay Courier, the victims, identified as 84-year-old John Steffen, a veteran, and 77-year-old Marilyn Steffen, lived part of the year in Pandora, Ohio, and the other part in Florida.
