CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -
After several years of planning and construction, Cincinnati's Horseshoe Casino opens to the public on Monday.
Horseshoe Casino was developed by Rock Ohio Caesars LLC (ROC), a joint venture partnership between Rock Gaming LLC and Caesars Entertainment Corporation. Caesars will manage the casino's day-to-day operations. It is expected to attract six million visitors annually.
The 400,000 sq. ft., two-story casino structure offers nearly 33,000 sq. ft. of multi-purpose and special function space. The 100,000 sq. ft. gaming floor will offer approximately 2,000 slot machines, 85 table games and a 31-table World Series of Poker room. In addition, a 2,500-space parking structure and 280-space surface is on-site.
Horseshoe Cincinnati projects it will generate $100 million annually in gaming tax revenue. Local distribution of gaming taxes will provide approximately $21 million to the City of Cincinnati, $12.2 million to Hamilton County and $14.1 million to Hamilton County school districts during its first full year of operations.
Ohio voters approved a state constitutional amendment in November 2009 authorizing casinos in the state's four largest cities: Cleveland, Cincinnati, Columbus, and Toledo. As approved in the ballot issue, gross casino revenues will be taxed at 33 percent, one of the highest rates in the nation for a resort casino with this level of investment.
The casino is home to four full-service restaurants, including Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville, Jack Binion's Steakhouse, Bobby Flay's Burger Palace and The Spread buffet. It also offers a 24/7 Starbucks.
The casino also has a rewards program that partners with ten downtown restaurants, including Boca, Jean-Robert's Table, Mahogany's at the Banks, Metropole, Moerlein Lager House, Montgomery Inn Boathouse, Nada, Sotto, Nicola's Ristorante Italiano and Via Vite.
The casino is also partnering with seven hotels: 21c Museum Hotel Cincinnati, The Cincinnatian Hotel, Garfield Suites Hotel, Hyatt Regency Cincinnati, Residence Inn Marriott Cincinnati, SpringHill Suites Cincinnati and The Westin Cincinnati.
The grand opening is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. Traffic signs will be in place to help direct guests on where to park.
