Casino grant gives Rossford Fire Department new CPR equipment
A $200,000 grant from Hollywood Casino Toledo is helping the Rossford Fire Department get new CPR equipment.
ROSSFORD, OH (Toledo News Now) -
Money from Hollywood Casino Toledo is going to help the community of Rossford. A $200,000 grant from the casino is helping the Rossford Fire Department stay up-to-date with new equipment.
The RFD just purchased two brand new CPR machines thanks to money from Hollywood Casino. The fire department received the grant last November and is now putting the money to good use.
The casino is working to make a positive mark on the community and officials say this grant was their way of giving back. The RFD says they wanted to use the grant money to benefit as many people as possible and these automated machines will help them do just that.
Assistant Fire Chief Josh Drouard says the machines are more effective than regular, hands-only CPR units.
"Humans get tired. We don't always - after we get tired - we don't always give such good compressions with equal force and equal rate, so that's why these machines are going to help us," explained Drouard.
The machines are slowly making their way into fire departments throughout the area. The RFD could have its machines ready to go as early as Monday night.
