SYLVANIA TOWNSHIP, OH (Toledo News Now) -
Sylvania
Township trustees awarded a bit to a Fremont contractor to build a new fire
station.
The
township decided the new Fire Station One would be built on the site of the old
station: Monroe Street downtown.
"This
was the voters' choice and we're doing the best possible thing," said Trustee
John Jennewine. "It will be a great addition to the township and the city."
The
construction budget is set at just under $2 million.
Demolition
of the old fire station will begin later this month, with completion of the new
station targeted for the beginning of November.
A vacant home was badly damaged in the blast, but no one was hurt when the home exploded. More >>
