People in Lenawee County are learning more about the Code-Red severe weather and mass notification system, a service provided by a grant from the Department of Homeland Security.
The system will send phone notifications to people in specific areas affected by events, including severe weather, hazardous material spills, pipeline emergencies, evacuations, boil advisories and missing people.
Users have the ability to select which types of alerts they would like to receive. After registering, when an event is sent to a phone, users will see the number 866-419-5000.
Learn more about Code-Red and how to sign up.
