A South Carolina man is facing multiple charges after Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers seized drugs, drug paraphernalia and cash early Thursday morning in Wood County.
Troopers stopped a 2003 Honda Accord with South Carolina registration for a turn signal violation on Interstate 75 near milepost 189 in Wood County at 3:59 a.m. Thursday.
Upon approaching the vehicle, troopers detected an odor of marijuana coming from the driver and inside the vehicle. The driver appeared to be impaired.
During interaction with the driver, he retrieved a small bag of marijuana from his shoe. A probable cause search of the vehicle revealed two large bottles containing 83 ounces of liquid codeine, drug paraphernalia, two additional bottles containing an unknown substance and $2,394 cash.
The driver, Rommell Adams, 35, of Clio, SC, was incarcerated in the Wood County Jail. He is charged with possession of codeine promethazine, which is a third-degree felony, as well as possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, which are both misdemeanors. Adams was also charged with OVI.
