SYLVANIA TOWNSHIP, OH (Toledo News Now) -

The prosecution called the lead detective in the case against Melody Williams Thursday before resting.  Williams is facing murder charges in the July 2011 death of L.C. Lyons Jr.  Lyons Jr. was found dead in his Sylvania Township home after the house went up in flames on July 4. Williams is accused of starting the fire to conceal the cause of Lyons's death; a gunshot wound to the head.

Williams chose to fire her attorneys and represent herself in the case.

The detective submitted text messages from Williams's cell phone, including one sent from her to the victim.  The detective also testified that matches found in Lyons's car match the lot number of matches found in Williams's possession.

Williams is expected to mount a defense Friday, calling witnesses on her behalf.
