Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur honored local young artists in the Congressional Arts Competition on Sunday.
Bowsher high school senior Maya Wymer was the 9th district winner.
A five-member jury honored Wymer for her work, "What do you see?," which will be on exhibit in the US Capitol for a year.
Kaptur says the arts play an important part in our community.
"This year's exhibit is phenomenal and these young people are seeing and representing life and their hopes for it in a very beautiful way. There is enormous talent here," said Congresswoman Kaptur.
The runner up from our area in the competition was Moniecia Caban from Toledo School for the Arts. Her artwork will be displayed in Kaptur's local office.
The competition was open to high school students.
