FULTON COUNTY, OH (Toledo News Now) -
The Toledo Ohio State Highway Patrol issued a release confirming that Andrew Emery, 22 of Adrian, Mich., died in an accident that occurred at the intersection of State Route 109 and US-20 Monday night.
Emery was driving a 2000 Chevy S-10 pickup truck northbound on 109, approaching US-20, and failed to stop at the stop sign.
According to police, Emery's vehicle struck the rear tandem axle of a commercial truck's empty trailer. The commercial truck was driven by Robert Hightower, Jr., 51 of Toledo.
Hightower's truck was overturned off the roadway.
Both men were wearing their seatbelts. Hightower was not injured, but Emery was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The accident is still under investigation, but OSHP reported that alcohol is believed to be a factor.
