TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Toledo police are looking for a man who reportedly attacked a teenager into his car in west Toledo Thursday morning.

The 15-year-old girl says a driver pulled up next to her while she was walking to school around 7 a.m. near Bennett Road and California Boulevard. She told police he tried to get her to get in his mini van, first by talking, then by physically grabbing her.

A neighbor says she saw the suspect grab the girl by the arm and push her near the car. That neighbor intervened, got the girl away from the man and called police.

"I just hate to think what would have happened if she wouldn't have seen this and stop it," said Becci Okenka.

Okenka says she lives next door to a hero.

"If it hadn't been for her, this girl would be gone now, you know? And thank God she was there," said Okenka.

Okenka calls her an angel, and police call her a no-nonsense neighbor who helped save a girl's life.

All of this happened just houses down from Tracy Morran. She says the more cases she see like this, the closer eye she wants to keep on her little ones and others.

"It's happening here. It's happening in Sylvania. It's really sad. It's really scary," said Morran. "Everybody needs to watch for everybody. We all need to watch out for each others' kids, and we need to try to teach our kids to do exactly what that little girl did. She fought, she ran, and somebody helped her."

The driver is described as a Hispanic male, about 5' 4" tall, 120 pounds with black hair and a possible facial scar. Police say he was wearing a brown coat with a white and blue plaid shirt. The girl also said he had a heavy accent, mustache and slight beard. He is said to be driving a red maroon mini van with tinted rear windows.

Anyone with more information is urged to call police or CrimeStopper at 419-255-1111.
