SYLVANIA, OH (Toledo News Now) -
The election of Pope Francis means a lot to many
Catholics, including those at Sisters of St. Francis in Sylvania.
The sisters said they are excited for the
election of Pope Francis, and they believe the significance of his name
represents the type of man he is.
They believe Pope Francis will continue the
tradition of all the teachings of the Catholic Church.
"St. Francis, who lived in the Middle Ages, was
absolutely a man for the little people, for the poor," explained Sister Joan
Jurski, director of Franciscan Spirituality Experiences. "And we, as
Franciscans, follow that care-ism, that
value system of Francis. So immediately, we connected."
The sisters also said Pope Francis' election was
not expected because his name was not being talked about much, so the fact that
he was elected, and chose the name he did, was a sacred moment for them.
