A Salary
Review Commission is recommending the salaries of Toledo's Mayor and Toledo
City Council members to increase.
On Thursday, all
six of the commission members at its meeting approved recommending increasing
the mayor's salary from $122,400 per year to $136,000 per year, which would
restore the cut made to that salary four years ago.
The
commission is also recommending salaries for council members to go from $27,500
per year to $32,500 per year, based on council not receiving a bump in pay for
the past decade.
Only one
commission member, Jon Stainbrook, opposed the council pay increase proposal.
The
recommendations will be forwarded to council, which will decide whether or not
to accept those recommendations. If approved, the new salaries for the mayor
and at-large council members will go into effect in 2014, and the new salaries
for district council members would go into effect in 2016.
