SYLVANIA, OH (Toledo News Now) -
Several new businesses are moving into downtown Sylvania, and those in the area are excited.
A new Paddy Jack's will be on Main Street in April, and in May, Lily Whitestone is coming to town. The locally owned and operated Heaven's Gate Soy Candles is moving from Haymarket Square to Main Street, as well.
"I know that there are big things coming to Sylvania; I know that there's new people moving in," said Jacquie Olender, owner of Heaven's Gate and on the Downtown Sylvania Association board. "The opportunity for the people in the area to find a good shopping experience is here in downtown Sylvania, and there isn't another place we'd like to be."
Carmen Wigmans, owner of Reve Salon and Spa, is excited for her new neighbor, Paddy Jack's, to move in, as well as the other new businesses.
"I think it looks good when you're driving down the street and you see people walking around, on the sidewalk, and going in and out all of the different businesses," she said. "Sylvania has a lot to offer."
For those interested in starting or moving a business to Sylvania, the Chamber of Commerce says downtown is the perfect location and they may be able to help.
"We really want to encourage people to come to Sylvania," said Pat Nowak, president of the Chamber of Commerce. "We have opportunities, grants, low-interest loans, that we will consider."
Heaven's Gate Soy Candles will hold a grand re-opening celebration March 20.
