PERRYSBURG, OH (Toledo News Now) -
When Owens Community
College closes its childcare center this summer, 94 children will be without
daycare.
The center is set to close
June 30, due to costs, according to Owens officials. They said it's just not in
the budget.
"It makes me really sad, I
know a lot of the kids that go here and their parents," said Brianna Pope, a
student teacher at Owens. "It's been an excellent experience for them."
In addition to the 94
children, there are 16 employees at the center with unknown futures. But it's
not just the employees, children, or parents that will be affected.
"It's gonna really hurt
me," Pope said. "I'm going to have to go elsewhere for student teaching and for
all of my observations."
Parents were also sad
about the news because they said the center is one of the best in the area.
No decision has been made
on Owens' childcare center at their Findlay campus at this time.
