Although not much can be said, Maumee Superintendent Dr. Greg Smith did confirm the teachers are currently in negotiations for a contract.
MAUMEE, OH (Toledo News Now) -
Teachers in Maumee schools have been working without a contract for more than two months and are currently in contract negotiations.
The school district is in the midst of negotiations with its biggest union: the Maumee Education Association. As a result, both sides are remaining quiet on the subject.
The current contract ended Dec. 31, 2012 and the teachers have been working without a contract since. There are 179 members of the Maumee Education Association but they said they cannot comment during negotiations.
Superintendent Dr. Greg Smith had a similar response.
"I'm really not at liberty to comment. We are currently negotiating, so that's really all I can say at this time," said Smith.
A number of teachers were at a previous school board meeting and many are expected for Monday night's meeting at 5:45.
