Some residents in Hancock County are on alert after a string of recent break-ins.
There have been four daytime break-ins in Liberty Township, just outside the Findlay city limits.
The Hancock County Sheriff's Office says they happened on Thursday and Friday of last week in the Hillcrest Subdivision. They said whoever is responsible is causing a lot of damage, just stealing jewelry and whatever else they can quickly take.
"Definitely concerning," said Eric Forsith, a resident in the neighborhood. "This is a quiet neighborhood, nicer neighborhood, so having people come in from the inside or outside to do something like that is definitely something to keep your eyes open for."
Forsith said he believes the neighborhood is a target for thieves because it is close to the highway and there's been a lot of construction inside the subdivision, making it difficult to tell who should be working on houses and who shouldn't.
"From a criminal's standpoint, when everybody's working their 9-5, which seems to be most of the people in this kind of neighborhood, they're probably looking for no confrontation and an easy in, easy out," he said.
Forsith also said the best way to keep the area safe is for neighbors to watch for anything suspicious.
"We always keep our eyes open in the neighborhood and make sure we're always looking for the unknown," he said.
Anyone with information on the break-ins is asked to contact the Hancock County Sheriff's Office at 419-424-7097.
