PERRYSBURG, OH (Toledo News Now) -
A Perrysburg family is
roasting coffee in their own garage, and the business is taking off.
It started when Richard
Jambor was introduced to fresh-roasted coffee by a co-worker. That sparked his
passion for roasting his own coffee, and the family began roasting coffee for
themselves.
Last October, with the
purchase of a large roaster and an interest from local businesses, the Maddie
and Bella Coffee Company took off.
Jambor does the actual
roasting of the coffee beans, his son Rich takes care of marketing, and his
wife Susan is the official taste tester.
"The minute you taste it,
you're hooked on it," Susan said.
They now hand-deliver coffee
to six local markets and shops, and one downtown coffee shop. Every Sunday, the
family gets together and takes care of all the orders for the week, and delivers
about 40-50 pounds of coffee.
"Six months ago I was
doing this as a hobby," Jambor said. "Now to have people telling us that it's
fabulous…It's beyond belief."
Each bag of coffee is
signed and dated by Jambor.
